Pumpkin Face Mask

Me & My girl

I spent some time this past fall with my daughter at the Wizard of Oz pumpkin display at the Arboretum. She absolutely adores this movie. I think she has watched it over 100 times since she was 3.

The Cowardly Lion

The entire setup was created from pumpkins. Every kind imaginable. Blue, green, bright orange, pale yellow, striped, spotted, grey, and white! Whew! That’s a lot of pumpkins! All of these pumpkins reminded me of how generous pumpkin is with its vitamins and minerals.

Did you know pumpkin is super good for you? Here’s a little bit of information about Pumpkin and how good it is for you internally as well as your skin. All the nutrients in pumpkin seeds that make them a healthy, nutritious snack also make them a great anti-aging ingredient in skin care.

Fix your dry and tired skin with pumpkin!

The PUMPKIN! It’s high in Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. Raw Pumpkin and Pumpkin Seed Oil, due to all these yummy antioxidants, provide tremendous benefits for the skin in terms of retaining moisture, fighting free radicals and maintaining a youthful appearance.

The natural nutrients in pumpkin seeds, particularly zinc and vitamin C, help firm and tighten skin, giving it a youthful appearance. The natural makeup of pumpkin seed works amazingly to soothe even the most sensitive skin. Pumpkins are great for every skin type — loaded with vitamins A, C, and E plus high in beta-carotene, zinc, potassium, and antioxidants, which can help eliminate redness.

Pumpkin seed oil helps protect the skin from environmental stressors like pollutants or smoke, due to the powerful antioxidant Vitamin E. These essential fatty acids penetrate deeply into your skin and provide long-lasting moisturization without greasiness. These fatty acids, along with zinc and natural selenium help balance and control oily sebum production

The following pumpkin face mask recipe takes full advantage of both raw organic pumpkin and pumpkin seed oil. This mask, over a period of time, can lighten, brighten and rejuvenate dry, dull skin. It tingles somewhat when you first apply it, and will leave your skin glowing and feeling rejuvenated. This blend smells amazing, and since all the ingredients are edible, you know it’s good for your skin.

You probably already have most of these ingredients in your kitchen but if not, they are pretty easy to come by.

  1. As with any mask application you should start with clean skin. Remove all makeup and wash your face with your regular cleanser.
  2. Weigh and combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. If using a fresh pumpkin be sure you have removed all the seeds. Mix together into a creamy consistency.
  3. Apply the mask using your fingers or a medium-sized makeup brush/makeup palette (pictured); avoid letting the mixture drip into the eyes. This mixture can also be applied to your neck and chest. Double the recipe if you desire to do this.
  4. Allow the mask to set for about 10-20 minutes.
  5. Gently wash off the mask with a warm, damp wash cloth and follow with a moisturizer.

Due to the fresh nature of this product, I do not recommend storing any leftovers for using at a later date. Should you choose to use a preservative, I will link you to a supplier with a recommended appropriate preservative.

I do not sell face masks in my store. Face masks are very simple and more cost-effective to make as you go. So, what are you waiting for! Go get a pumpkin and make this face mask, while eating a few cooked seeds.
